In today's blog article, I would like to share with you a true story, that I believe some of you will be able to relate to. I want to share it with you so you know that you are not alone.
Jessica (name changed for confidentiality reasons) is a successful copywriter. Her business has been flourishing for years and she built a great reputation in her industry.
She needs to devote a significant chunk of her day to writing copy for her clients. Despite regular positive clients’ feedbacks, her copies never seem to be good enough, or just enough to her. So she often overworks herself to compensate and doesn't have time for much else which makes her feel really frustrated.
Sometimes her self-doubt becomes so loud, that she even can’t progress on the client’s work. She stops, because it’s not good enough, according to her own impossible standards. So she procrastinates by scrolling down on different social media or making Netflix series her best friend at that time. And then she’s angry and frustrated at herself.
But this pattern of ‘not good enough' together with perfectionism is slowing her down, wasting her mental energy, and stopping her from moving forward to actual, useful goals.
Can you relate?
